How we source tuition and aid figures

Tuition, aid, and other figures are pulled directly from each school's own published materials — their tuition and financial aid pages, admissions PDFs, or other official sources. We do not estimate, average, or infer a number for a school that hasn't published one. When we can cite the exact page a figure came from, that link appears directly on the school's profile.

In practice, that means crawling each school's own website and only accepting a figure when it appears as a literal substring of that school's page — no paraphrasing, no rounding, no inference from context. If the number can't be found written on the page itself, we don't publish it. All 142 cited sources point to the school's own domain; none come from third-party directories or tuition aggregators.

A figure is marked verified once someone has checked it against the school's current published materials as of a specific date. Schools update tuition annually, so a verification date tells you how fresh a number is — not just whether it was ever correct. If a school hasn't been re-checked recently, we'd rather you know that than assume the number is current.

As an audit of the process, 28 schools were additionally checked by hand against the automated extraction to confirm the numbers matched what was actually published.

This database previously carried tuition figures that couldn't be traced to any school's published materials — many were round-number estimates. Those were removed and the database rebuilt from primary sources. Schools where we still can't cite a source are shown without a tuition figure rather than filled in with a guess.

Tuition changes every year, and we're a small team covering a lot of schools — figures can go stale. Every school profile links straight to its source so you can verify a number yourself before making a decision.
